Check your pensions, Social Security and regular withdrawals against France's visitor-visa resources test, in euros at today's rate, and see how a currency move changes the margin. Your income against France's visitor-visa resources test, in euros at today's rate. It starts with Dan and Ruth Keller's numbers: change any of them to yours.

Dollars per euro from your bank. Blank uses the ECB rate.
1 EUR = 1.1193 USD · 1 USD = €0.8934 ECB euro foreign exchange reference rate, 23 Oct 2026

Euro amounts are converted at this rate and are estimates. Currency moves change what your life in Europe costs in dollars: a weaker dollar makes it more expensive.

Comfortably above the minimum. Your income is €6,701 a month ($7,500), 2.32 times the €2,886 ($3,231) that two applicants would need at the net minimum wage.

Your savings (€536,049) would cover the whole minimum for 15.5 years on their own, a useful backup to show.

The visitor visa asks for resources of at least the net minimum wage (SMIC, €2,886 for two in 2026) and private health insurance, and a promise not to work in France. Each consulate applies the test its own way; this is a guide, not an approval.
